After-school program for high school jazz musicians to develop their skills and gain real-world performance experience.

Job-based learning for high school students interested in theater arts.

Symphony Association - Livermore-Amador Symphony Association Youth Orchestra

A summer orchestra open to violin, viola, cello, string, bass, flute, piccolo, oboe, English horn, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, harp, timpani, and percussion musicians.

Requirements:

  • Musicians aged 11 (or 6th grade) through 21

California Highway Patrol - Explorer Program

Develop the skills and knowledge needed to serve the people of California through discipline and a commitment to serving the community.

Requirements:

  • 15-20 years of age
  • No drug or alcohol use
  • No felony arrests or convictions

City of Livermore - Law Enforcement Explorer Program

Hands-on career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities, and community service activities for students interested in law enforcement careers.

Requirements:

  • 14-21 years of age; applications must be received by applicant's 19th birthday 
  • Live or attend school in Livermore
  • Enrolled in school with a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • No felony convictions
  • Free from mental and physical disabilities that could place the student or officers at risk

City of Livermore - Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission

Promotes youth involvement in the community and supports communication between elected leaders and youth. The Commission creates a forum for ideas and concerns and provides a vehicle for the interests and needs of youth to be communicated to the City Council and the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District.

Dedicated to training tomorrow's firefighters through hands-on training experiences ranging from auto extrication to basic firefighting skills.

Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department - Reserves

Serve the community by providing support for the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department while preparing for a career in fire service through training, education, leadership, prevention, and technology.

  • Livermore or Pleasanton resident (or current Los Positas College Fire Science student)
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Valid CPAT card within one year of application date

California Career Resource Network - California Career Center

Resources to help middle and high school students plan for the future, including career options, education, and training opportunities.


California Career Resource Network - CareerZone

A secure web-based platform designed to help youth explore, plan, and prepare for careers they'll love. Tools include self-assessment modules, financial literacy tools, as well as information on U.S. colleges, certifications, and occupations.


California Department of Rehabilitation - Student Services

Supports disabled students as they transition to adult life. Services include job exploration, post-secondary counseling, skill development, self-advocacy, and work experience.

  • Students 16-21 years of age
  • At least one of the following is true
    • Have an existing 504 Plan (or are eligible for one)
    • Have an existing IEP
    • Have a disability
    • Others think you have a disability

Las Positas College - Career Coach

An online assessment tool designed to match users' skills and interests with in-demand careers. Tools include a career assessment module, career browser, and Las Positas College Program listings.


Las Positas College - High School Credit Program

A list of curated courses for high school students in the Tri-Valley area to complete through dual enrollment. Dual enrollment – also known as concurrent enrollment – enables high school students to take college courses, taught by college professors, either on campus or at their school site. These courses count toward the high school diploma, allowing students to get a head start on their higher education goals.

Requirements:

  • 9th-12th grade students (students who will be in 9th grade in the following Fall semester are eligible to participate in the summer term)
  • Adult School students obtaining a GED

Las Positas College - Middle College

A unique collaboration between Las Positas College, the Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program, Dublin Unified School District, Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District, and Pleasanton Unified School District. Through this alternative high school program, students have the opportunity to obtain a rigorous high school education while concurrently earning college credits.

Aviation Explorer Post #997 - Aviation Career Exploring

A hands-on program for young people interested in learning about careers in the fields of aviation and aerospace. Based out of the Livermore Airport, this program offers social and learning opportunities as well as assistance with scholarships, internships, and mentorships.

Dedicated to developing a strong pool of candidates for water/wastewater jobs in the Bay Area, BACWWE provides scholarships for education from local, accredited training programs for skills relevant to the industry.

Information on careers and training opportunities in the water and wastewater field, including certification/apprenticeship tracks and associate/bachelor's degree tracks.


Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory - Biotechnology Summer Experience

A two-week program to engage high school students in a molecular biology and bioinformatics research project focusing on the isolation, characterization, and DNA sequence of genes from the duckweed species, Landoltia punctata.

Requirements:

  • Students 16 years of age or older by the start of the workshop
  • U.S. citizenship
  • 3.3 or higher cumulative GPA
