Jazz in July: Oakland Jazz Choir

Jazz in July, an annual Livermore tradition, once again takes over the Civic Center Library for four programs by top jazz artists. Held on Sundays at 2 p.m. in the Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Ave, Jazz and July programs are free of charge, thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Livermore Public Library. No reservations are required to attend. Parking and seats are limited, so arrive early!

Jazz and July Lineup:

July 7: Oakland Jazz Choir – An East Bay institution for over 30 years, this group delivers exquisite five and six part harmonies, performing original and contemporary arrangements from the bebop era to modern jazz and pop that includes pieces by hit makers such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Pat Metheny, Michael Jackson, Dizzy Gillespie, Steely Dan, and Stevie Wonder.

July 14: The Dave Rocha Quintet - A mainstay of the greater Bay Area jazz community for over 20 years, Dave Rocha and his quintet perform an eclectic mix covering a wide variety of tempos, rhythms, and styles, including jazz waltz, jazz rock, Latin, hardbop, and blues.

July 21: Charged Particles - This award-winning Bay Area jazz trio has played their unique blend of funky Latin jazz in Indonesia, the U.K., Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, and Abu Dhabi, as well as throughout the U.S. during their 32 years. This performance will feature guest saxophonist Tod Dickow, who Jazz Life magazine called “one of the best saxophonists in the world.”

July 28: Ashley Jemison - Join us for a live saxophone concert by this ultra-talented musician. Jemison brings a new school vibe to smooth jazz by covering the current styles of R&B and pop music, while adding a unique improvisational twist that leaves her audiences wanting more.
