Living Room Conversation on Hope

  • Date: 11/09/2021 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Livermore Public Library will host its second Living Room Conversation, a guided interactive conversation designed to help citizens increase understanding, reveal common ground, and seek solutions, on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  This program will be held via Zoom. Space is limited and registration is required. To register, please call (925) 373-5505. Registered participants will receive a Zoom link a few days prior to the event.

Instead of resigning themselves to their current situations, individuals can dream and build new possibilities. This is hope in action. In this way, hope is an energy source that resides in each person. It is a type of knowing beyond the five senses of touch, smell, sight, hearing, and taste. When people hold hope in their hearts and minds–when they hold the vision or dream of something new, better and more life-giving–they are compelled to move toward it. People have a choice: to keep hope alive or to give in to doubt and let hope fade away. This conversation is about sharing thoughts and experiences on hope.

During the program, facilitated by Librarian Paul Sevilla, participants will talk about the topic in three rounds of conversation. During each round, participants will select from a set of questions designed to encourage dialogue. Participants may access the discussion guide and view the list of questions prior to the program using the following link: https://bit.ly/39OcUvc.

Living Room Conversations is a non-profit organization formed in 2010 that provides an easy structure for engaging, friendly yet meaningful conversations. All are welcome to register and participate in this civil, round robin-style conversation. Visit LivingRoomConversations.org to learn more about this open source project.
