Recruiting Young Adult Volunteers

  • Date: 04/10/2023

Accepting Applications through May 5
The Livermore Public Library is looking for Young Adult Volunteers (YAV) to assist with the 2023 Summer Reading Program. Interested teens must be:

  1. A Livermore resident
  2. Entering the 6th through 11th grades in fall 2023
  3. Attend orientation (see below for dates)
  4. Commit to volunteering during June 1 - August 16, and assisting with City Council Awards Night in September.

Volunteers are needed at all three public library branches. Special consideration will be given to teens wishing to volunteer at the Rincon and/or Springtown Branches.

  • NEW Young Adult Volunteer Application: If you have never volunteered at the library, you need to complete this application. The volunteer will complete pages 1-3 (application questions and profile) while the parent/guardian will complete pages 4-5 (volunteer release).

  • RETURNING Young Adult Volunteer Application: If you volunteered at the library in 2022 as a YAV, shelf steward, or Teen Advisory Board member, you need to complete this application. The volunteer will complete page 1 (volunteer profile) and the parent/guardian will complete pages 2-3 (volunteer release).

Completed applications may be returned to any of the three library branches but must be received no later than 5:50 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023. It is strongly advised that applicants submit the paperwork themselves, opposed to having a parent or guardian submit it on their behalf.

Selected volunteers will be required to attend an orientation at the branch where they are volunteering:

  • Rincon on Monday, May 22, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Springtown on Tuesday, May 23, 4:00-5:00 p.m.
  • Civic Center on Wednesday, May 24, 7:00-8:00 p.m.

If you have additional questions or need further information, please contact Blanche Angelo at beangelo@livermoreca.gov.
