Jazz in July: Charged Particles

Jazz in July, an annual Livermore tradition, returns with five performances by top jazz artists. The concerts will be held on Sundays at 2 p.m. at Civic Center Library (1188 S. Livermore Ave.), except for the finale concert will be held at Retzlaff Vineyards (1356 S. Livermore Ave.) on Thursday, July 30, at 5 p.m.

All Jazz in July programs are free of charge, thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Livermore Public Library. No reservations are required. Seating and parking are limited, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early.

Jazz in July Lineup:

July 12 at 2 p.m.: Charged Particles at Civic Center Library— DownBeat praised Charged Particles as inventive, invigorating, and mesmerizing, while JazzTimes called the group enormously talented. The internationally touring jazz trio performs approximately 170 concerts annually across the United States and abroad.

July 19 at 2 p.m.: Mimi Fox with Jeff Denson at Civic Center Library— Mimi Fox is an internationally acclaimed jazz guitarist and DownBeat Critics Poll honoree known for her virtuosic improvisation and global performances. She is joined by Jeff Denson, an award-winning bassist, vocalist, and composer whose work blends jazz, contemporary classical, and improvisational music.

July 26 at 2 p.m.: Leon Joyce Jr. Trio at Civic Center Library— Leon Joyce Jr. has performed at major jazz and blues festivals worldwide, including Montreux, Monterey, Newport Jazz, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage, and Chicago Jazz festivals. He has also appeared internationally in Europe and Mexico, as well as on the Rhythm & Blues Cruise.

July 30 at 5 p.m.: The CoolTones Big Band at Retzlaff Vineyards (1356 S. Livermore Ave.)— Everyone is invited to the Jazz in July 2026 grand finale at Retzlaff Vineyards, featuring The CoolTones Big Band! This family-friendly event welcomes attendees to bring a picnic while they enjoy music, play games, and participate in crafts. Food will also be available for purchase from Fratelli’s Pizzeria.
